About Hart Farm: Hart Farm is a small, private homestead nestled in the countryside of Upstate, South Carolina. Although it is home to many different animals, my main focus is the breeding and raising of goats. I have animals available for sale at various times of the year; just visit the "for sale" pages to view animal availability. Also, feel free to explore the site and check out some of the animal care sheets!
NEW TO THE FARM: I've added several mini nubians to the herd and will be breeding them yearly. They are all very lovely animals with lots of beautiful coloring. Mini nubians are one of the newer breeds out there, featuring many desirable qualities. They retain the elegant characteristics of the classic nubian. In combination to this, they also feature a smaller size due to their nigerian dwarf heritage. They're just the all-around perfect breed that can very successfully serve as both pet and provider of delicious, creamy milk! I encourage you to research the breed. I think you'll be impressed!
COMING SOON: Hart Farm and Lowe Farm are partnering to produce shetland sheep. We have purchased a registered breeding pair along with a couple of unregistered ewes and hope to offer our first lambs soon. Shetlands are a hardy, primitive breed that are an excellent choice for the small farm. They are mainly a wool-producing breed, but supposedly possess tasty meat and produce ample milk. Ewes are typically polled while rams grow elegant spiraled horns. They come in many colors, and it's hard to resist these adorable little balls of fluff! Stay tuned for lamb updates!
FARM UPDATES:
We now have a litter of californian-rex rabbits that will be available in another month.
Babies are coming! With spring on the way, we should be having a variety of animals being hatched/born, including but not limited to: sheep, turkeys, chickens, and rabbits. Visit the various sale pages to check availability (Email for updated info on rabbits).
Moonshine has received her MDGA papers, and Apricot has received her NASSA papers.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING THE GOATS: Biosecurity testing was recently completed for the goats. The herd was negative for CAE, Johnes, and Q Fever; however, four out of five goats tested positive for CL. After doing a lot of research and consulting with my vet, I have learned that the CL blood test is not very accurate. The only way to accurately test for CL is to test an abscess. NONE of my goats have had any abscesses (main symptom of CL). I plan to vaccinate against CL in the future. If you are seeking more information on CL, I encourage you to read this article by Onion Creek Ranch located here. Because none of the goats have had any abscesses, I am resuming breeding and selling animals. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest about the health of my animals so that buyers can make educated decisions. If you have any questions regarding this issue, feel free to contact me. I am happy to help.
